okay, so my mind has been working in overdrive lately, and i'd like to start something. i call it the playground. it's essentially a series of connected settings that i'd like myself and others to establish and use. i'd like to pull a lovecraft and let people play in my sandbox, so i'm posting the basics here.

if you would like to add, expand, or otherwise contribute, feel free! i want this to be the basis for something great.

the playground:
background: when the world's population grew too large to support itself, a league of scientists, philosophers, occult scholars, and other necessary areas of expertise perfected a method to create additional realities to export the overflowing population to.


the worlds:
the reach: high-tech world on which scientific theory dominates all.
the will: fantasy world on which willpower and belief makes impossible things possible.
the ages: historical world on which each geographical location corresponds to a different historical period.
the mash: a by-product created of all the other worlds on which just about anything goes(think he-man/thundercats/any number of other 80's cartoons).
the real: the original world on which normalcy rules the day.


reality: a reality is generally confined by the beliefs of the people that populate it. any large group of like-minded individuals can, one increment at a time, shift reality to conform to that of the group as a whole. this is what causes the different realities to have such wildly different capabilities.

cult: any group of like-minded individuals that does shift reality is referred to as a cult.
